Bus tickets on Santorini: where to buy and how to pay

KTEL Santorini publishes its fares in detail and its sales rules hardly at all. This page separates the two: what the operator states, and what it does not.

The short answer

The only published sales rule is the airport's: on the airport – Fira bus, tickets can be purchased from the bus conductor [source]. KTEL's fare table gives four columns for every row — ordinary, reduced (−50%), student (−25%) and night (+25%, 00:30–05:00) [source] — and no source this site uses states whether cards are accepted, whether tickets are sold in advance, or whether day passes exist. Carry cash in small notes and expect to pay on board.

Fira – Oia: €2.20 ordinary (11.8 km) — KTEL fare table · PDF fare panel: €2.20

Step by step

What the fare table publishes

Thirty-one rows, each with an ordinary fare and, where KTEL prints it, a distance. From Fira: Oia €2.20 (11.8 km), Kamari €2.20 (7.3 km), Akrotiri village €2.20 (15.1 km) or beach €2.20 (16.5 km), Perissa – Perivolos €2.70 (20.4 km), Vlychada €2.80 (20.4 km), Athinios port €2.70 (18 km), the airport €2.20 on the row Fira – Kamari – Monolithos – Airport [source]. The full table is on the fares page.

The four columns

The reduced column is marked with an asterisk for large families and disability ("Πολυτέκνων και Αναπηρίας"); the student column is −25%; the night column adds 25% between 00:30 and 05:00 [source]. Eligibility evidence is not described on the table; ask KTEL.

The PDF fare panel

The timetable PDF prints a shorter fare panel from Fira with sixteen destinations at 2,20 € or 2,70 €, and it disagrees with the fare table on Vlychada — 2,70 € against €2.80 [source, source]. Both are shown across this site; pay what the conductor asks.

Where tickets are sold

Airport – Fira: from the conductor, per Santorini Airport [source]. Every other corridor: KTEL's routes page and PDF publish no sales channel [source, source]. KTEL's published contact details are the phone number 22860 25404 and the email [email protected] [source].

What is not published

Payment methods on the on-island corridors, day passes or multi-ride tickets, child fare thresholds and luggage charges do not appear on the fare table or the PDF [source, source]. This site does not fill those gaps with guesses.

What goes wrong

Paying for the wrong stage. Akrotiri has two prices in the table — village and beach [source] — and Perissa and Perivolos share one row [source]. Say the stop, not the corridor, when you pay, and keep the ticket until you get off.
